Description

Discover one of the most important Italian cities: Milan

Visit the most iconic places of the city center, such as the Duomo Cathedral, the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, Alla Scala Opera House and Sforza Castle. Learn about the rich history and culture of Milan as you walk through Brera and listen to anecdotes about some of the city’s famous past residents.

Milan is known for its role in business and fashion but it is also rich in culture, steeped in tradition and full of beautiful art. On this private tour you will get a real flavor of Milan and its beauty, accompanied by a very experienced English-speaking guide, and it can be tailored to suit your personal interests.

You will stop in Piazza Duomo, where you will see the fifth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in Italy: the Duomo. It took over six centuries to build and is one of the world’s leading examples of mixed Gothic architecture.

You will visit a version of the earliest shopping malls, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where you can take a little time out to browse through the shops or perhaps have a drink in one of the many cafes or bars, as Milan’s great poets, artist and writers of the 19th Century used to do.

Another important must-see attraction is Milan’s Opera House. Designed by Guiseppe Piermarini, it was built over the ruins of a former theater and was opened in 1778. People come from all over the world to see this wonderful theater and enjoy its magnificent operatic performances.

The tour ends with a stroll in the Brera district, the Bohémien area of the city. Here, among beautiful houses, antiques shops and posh boutiques, there is one of the most beautiful art gallery in Italy and the botanical garden. A final piece of Milan’s history is the medieval Sforza Castle, built by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan in the 15th Century, a real ancient fortress as we have seen in the movies e read in the books.
